I was in the 6th grade and me and my friend Bill LaVey made arrangements to meet up with Karen and her friend Kathy Guettler at the beach in El Granada after school. To our surprise the girls showed up and we had a great time at the beach.We were just innocent and awkward kids trying to grow up faster than we should have. When we were done showing off for the girls we took a seat on a washed up log hidden in a cove at surfers beach and thats when it happened. My first kiss! I dont think Karen was ready for it and to be honest,either was i. But it happened and it is something that i have always remembered with the utmost respect for her courage and tenderness.
